Release Notes

This release large chunk of the many design assets created as a part of the Descry design process. By design assets, we mean comps, i.e. source files such as .psds, layered .pngs for fireworks, & .ai. We are sharing these with you and hope that it'll give you a peek into what went on behind the scenes.

About the files
  • We're big fans of a few features in the Adobe CS3 Suite, such as - Layer Comps in Photoshop, frames in Fireworks, and slices in Photoshop. They've been used extensively in the files, so if you find yourself scratching your head after you've loaded up one of the files, be sure to turn on the relevant panels/windows that will let you toggle through the various states. Turn on the Layer Comps menu by selecting Window > Layer Comps.
  • All .png files provided in this package are layered Fireworks png's. When opened in Fireworks, you will see all the layers and will also be able to run through the various states using the "Frames" feature (Window > Frames)
  • Several .psd files (notably, the "ui" files) use the slicing feature in Photoshop. Be sure to turn on slices (View > Show > Slices). Essentially, we set up the various states of buttons and other UI elements as slices, preset their output format settings and use the "Save for Web..." dialog to render them all at once. Change once, update all. It's a great time-saver. If you haven't used slices before, it takes some getting used to, but we highly recommend it.
  • You will notice several differences between some of the concept screens and final infographics that are online. This is "by design". :)
